Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 20, 2026

briefworld.net ("we", "us") respects your privacy. This page explains, in plain language, what information we collect when you visit the site, how it's used, and what choices you have. The short version: we collect very little, we don't sell anything, and we try to be careful with what we do collect.

1. Information we collect

Information you give us

If you write to us through the contact form, we receive whatever you type in — typically your name, email address, and the body of your message. We use that information solely to read and reply to your message.

Information collected automatically

Like virtually all websites, our web server logs basic technical information about each request: IP address, the page requested, the date and time, your browser's user-agent string, and the referring page (if any). These logs are kept for a short period and used for troubleshooting, security, and aggregate traffic analysis.

Cookies

briefworld.net does not set advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. The contact form uses a single temporary session cookie to guard against forged submissions; it expires when you close your browser. If we add analytics in the future, this page will be updated and the provider may set cookies subject to its own policy.

Maps and third-party services

Entry pages and the explore map load map tiles from OpenStreetMap and a mapping library from a public content delivery network. Your browser makes direct requests to those services to load tiles and scripts; we do not control what they log. We do not embed third-party trackers, social-media pixels, or advertising scripts.

2. How we use information

  • To operate and maintain the site.
  • To respond to messages you send us.
  • To detect and prevent abuse, spam, or security incidents.
  • To understand, in aggregate, which entries readers find useful so we can improve coverage.

3. How we share information

We do not sell or rent your personal information. We share information only in the limited cases below:

  • Service providers — the hosting company and similar infrastructure providers necessary to run the site.
  • Legal compliance — when required by law, court order, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of briefworld.net or others.

4. Data retention

Contact-form messages are kept for as long as needed to handle the conversation and any follow-up. Server logs are kept for a short rolling window (typically 30–90 days) and then discarded or aggregated.

5. Children's privacy

briefworld.net is a general-audience reference site and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

6. Your choices

  • You can browse the entire site without giving us any personal information.
  • You can configure your browser to refuse cookies; the site will continue to work.
  • If you have written to us and want your message and email address deleted from our records, write to us and ask.

7. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect the limited personal information we hold. No system is perfectly secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of the page. Material changes will be noted prominently.
